Analysis of Bright Spots in the Macrostructure of TC4 Titanium Alloy Bars!

Titanium alloys have the advantages of low density and high specific strength, and are widely used in the aerospace field. TC4 titanium alloy has excellent comprehensive properties and is a large amount of two-phase titanium alloy. The types of titanium alloy products can be divided into plates, rods and wires, pipes, and heterosexual forgings, among which the production of rods accounts for about one-fifth of all types of titanium processing materials.

TC4 titanium alloy bars can be used as key components such as engine shells, missiles, and pressure vessels after subsequent processing, therefore there are strict requirements for the microstructure and properties of the materials. In the production process of titanium alloy bars, there may occasionally be low magnification structural abnormalities such as bright bars and spots. The formation of these defects mostly belongs to the category of component segregation defects, which are common in those with many types of elements β In type titanium alloys. According to the difference in hardness between the segregation site and the matrix structure, segregation can be divided into hard segregation and soft segregation, which are difficult to detect through flaw detection; However, the existence of this defect may affect the use of the material, and different standard requirements provide different treatment methods for such defects.

During the long-term production practice of titanium rod manufacturers, it was found that there were abnormal macrostructures of TC4 rods in two batches during the inspection process, but the morphology differences were significant; We have conducted research and analysis on it, and proposed corresponding solutions to provide for the normal production of TC4 titanium alloy bars.
